INTERVIEW WITH LOCAL HIPPY/ACTIVIST AIDAN SHIPLEY-
Following a brief stint in the outdoors
during his early years in the scouting program, Mr. Shipley was in love.
Aidan
Wallace Shipley was born in the cowboy town of Calgary Alberta Canada in
December of 1997. At the age of 5, he was already enrolled in the scouting
program, of which he stayed until the ripe age of 16. Following his scouting
days, he continued his love of the outdoors by spending most weekends in local
mountain ranges and in tents.
A proud
World Wildlife, Amnesty and Green Party Supporter, Aidan hopes to continue his
work in the world of politics and journalism at the University of Victoria. We
got a chance to sit with the Eco-Supporter in a recent sit-down with Ollie’s
World of Writing.
TRANSCRIPT-
OLIVER FLINT (OWOW)- Thanks for sitting down with us
Mr. Shipley. We look forward to speaking with you.
AIDAN WALLACE SHIPLEY- No problemo, love helping out a
friend.
FLINT- Who do you owe your success to in
this life?
SHIPLEY- I would have to say my parents, they have
always helped out me find my way. Whether it was that compass I really needed,
or even driving me out to scout camps, they were always there for me. They
helped me find my way, helped shape who I am.
FLINT-
Incredible, and they are doing well?
SHIPLEY-
Yes, very.
FLINT-
Very good to hear. The next question I have for you is why does the outdoors
pull on your moral compass? What brings you to the great unknown?
SHIPLEY-
That exact reason. The one you stated, the great unknown. I live my life
according to experiencing foreign and new circumstance everyday. No-one day is
alike in the outdoors, a consistently changing sunset and sunrise.
FLINT-
Do you’re parents ever become worrisome of your safety or location?
SHIPLEY-
Like all parents do naturally. I keep in touch and I always tell someone where
I am going before I go.
FLINT-
Well it says here you are a heavy supporter of Greenpeace and other
Environmental Organizations?
SHIPLEY-
That is correct Ollie, I support a series of different government and
non-government organizations that support the upkeep and conservation of our
earth.
FLINT-
And why do you do that? Couldn’t you have put that money towards more safety
equipment, or better gear for yourself?
SHIPLEY-
What is the use of better equipment if the places we use them are slowly
diminishing? Not only do I support these organizations, I also do outreach
programs in around schools and communities to show them the impact we as humans
have on our world. I think it’s important for the younger generation to
understand the struggles of the environment, hopefully in an effort to stop the
impact we (the current generation already have)
FLINT-
Geez, that was a mouthful wasn’t it.
SHIPLEY-
Screw you Ollie.
FLINT-
Well that’s all the time we have, thanks for stopping by. Is there anything
else you wish to say to all those reading today’s edition?
SHIPLEY-
Tread Lightly and remember where we all come from, mother earth.
